CONFERENCE DESCRIPTION

Our 6th Annual Conference on Challenges in Mental Healthcare for the Primary Care Provider provides practical, evidence-based care tips for treating the primary care patient with challenging psychiatric and psychosocial concerns. Designed for physicians, certified nurse midwives, nurse practitioners, physician associates, nurses, and other allied healthcare professionals who manage patients of all ages, this course emphasizes team-based problem solving. Throughout the sessions, our expert faculty will guide you and your fellow providers as you collaborate amongst yourselves and collectively practice skills and strategies for application and implementation into your practice. This educational activity aims to increase both the competence and performance of all attendees as well as contribute to your ability to work together as part of a coordinated healthcare team.

Topics for this year’s conference have been selected based on the educational needs underlying identified professional practice gaps. The gaps were derived from a variety of sources including evaluations and outcomes data from past participants, clinical expert input, Symposia Medicus’ online survey, and other medical and nursing data such as current clinical guidelines, research findings, literature reviews, and patient safety considerations.
           
An outstanding faculty has been assembled for this conference. Each faculty member was selected based on their individual area of expertise and ability to communicate current, evidence-based, and practical information to participants.

The conference format includes didactic lectures, question and answer sessions, and case study discussions. Following a group of lectures, the “What Have We Learned” sessions allow attendees to ask the faculty critical and challenging questions about caring for patients during various mental healthcare situations.

CONFERENCE LOCATION

The setting for our conference is the beautiful Big Sky Resort, nestled in the majestic Northwestern Rockies, just an hour drive from Bozeman, Montana.

Big Sky is host to a multitude of summer activities. Take a scenic chair-lift ride up Lone Mountain and experience wonderful hiking and mountain biking, enjoy an invigorating horseback ride, or take to the rivers for incredible fly fishing and whitewater rafting. Big Sky also offers an 18-hole golf course, as well as a number of tennis courts, all offering spectacular views of the surrounding mountains.

The resort’s close proximity to Yellowstone National Park (the northwest border of the park is less than an hour away) is yet another element of Big Sky’s appeal. Plan to spend time observing the nation’s most impressive geysers and hot springs, including “Old Faithful Geyser,” and be awestruck by the ever-present wildlife and majestic scenery in our country’s first established National Park.

Our conference coincides with the award winning Big Sky PBR (Professional Bull Riders). Built from the sagebrush up, PBR has grown into “Big Sky’s Biggest Week” – a week of community events including three nights of bull riding, musical events, vendor village and more. Big Sky Resort is a self-contained village with many restaurants from which to choose, as well as live evening entertainment and dancing. The resort has a giant heated indoor/outdoor swimming pool, full spa, and whirlpools to help soothe those aching muscles at the end of a busy day. A full range of shops are available in and around Big Sky Resort, offering everything from hiking supplies to fine art.

Hotel Policies

Above conference group rates are per room, per night and do not include the following (subject to change):
- 8% state bedding/accommodation tax
- 4% local/resort tax
- 10% resort service fee
- 0.8% bedding/accommodation tax

The resort service fee includes: complimentary resort-wide Wi-Fi, scenic lift rides, pool access, resort bellman shuttle for transport within the Big Sky Community (based on availability), children’s activities in Huntley Lodge lobby, movies in the amphitheater nightly (availability allowing), luggage storage with bell staff on arrival or departure, and self-parking. Items are subject to change.

Maximum guestroom occupancy as stated above cannot be exceeded

Mandatory additional occupant charge (over two in room), is $25 per person, per night for ages 7 years & older

Rollaway beds are available at an additional cost of $20 per night (subject to availability and change)

Cribs are available on a complimentary basis (subject to availability and change)

Check-in time is 5:00pm and check-out time is 11:00am. A late check-out can only be confirmed on the date of departure by the front desk. Late check-outs are based on availability and additional charges may apply.

Credit/Debit Card Policy: Upon check-in, the hotel requires a credit card or debit card to ensure that funds are available. Holds are placed on your account for your entire stay plus estimated incidentals; however, the amount may be immediately deducted from your account. The length of time for which these holds remain on your credit or debit account varies from bank to bank.

Parking: Self-parking is complimentary (included in resort fee). Valet parking (only available at the Summit and Huntley Buildings) is $20 per day for Summit guests, $15 per day for Huntley guests, and $40 per day for all other guests.

Cancellation Policies

Conference cancellations must be made in writing (via email) to Symposia Medicus and a refund, less a 10% processing fee, will be given. No refunds will be made if cancellation is received after June 14, 2023; however, tuition, less a 10% processing fee, may be applied to a future Symposia Medicus conference.

Per our hotel contract, hotel reservation cancellations must be made in writing to Symposia Medicus and you will receive a full refund if emailed by May 17, 2023. Between May 18, 2023 and June 14, 2023, one night’s deposit is forfeited. After June 14, 2023, no hotel refunds can be made.

In the unlikely event of conference cancellation by Symposia Medicus, full tuition and, if reservation was made with Symposia Medicus, hotel deposit refunds will be made. Symposia Medicus will not be responsible for refunding travel or any other expenses.
