CONFERENCE DESCRIPTION
Our 9th Annual Fall Conference on Emergency Medicine is designed to provide emergency physicians and nurses, and other healthcare providers with state-of-the-art, evidence-based information in Emergency Medicine. A wide variety of topics pertinent to emergency care will be presented in lectures, case presentations, and interactive sessions. The primary purpose of the conference is to enhance the knowledge of providers toward the goal of improved patient care.

Topics in this year's conference have been selected based on past participant conference evaluation requests, clinical expert input, and Emergency Medicine practice guidelines.

An outstanding faculty has been assembled for this conference. Faculty members are committed to providing participants with current and practical information. Each member was selected based on their individual area of expertise and their outstanding ability to teach. This exciting conference will provide you with an opportunity to share current ideas with colleagues from across the country in a stimulating, relaxing and informal environment.

CONFERENCE OBJECTIVES
At the conclusion of this conference, you should be able to:

Identify current treatment options for emerging infections including MRSA

Recognize and manage pediatric life threatening events

Identify and manage cardiac emergencies

Practice appropriate standards of care for the clinical dilemmas of stroke, emergencies in the elderly, pain management, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease

ROUND TABLE DISCUSSION SESSIONS
Small group discussions will be held Friday afternoon. These "Round Table Discussion Sessions," are organized to provide an opportunity for greater participant/ faculty interaction, and to discuss subjects relating to your particular area of interest. You are encouraged to bring cases or issues you are confronting in your clinical practice to discuss during these sessions.

ACCREDITATION
This educational activity was planned and produced in accordance with the ACCME and ANCC essentials and standards relating to continuing medical and nursing education.

Symposia Medicus is accredited by the Accreditation Council on Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

Symposia Medicus is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation (ANCC).

CONTINUING EDUCATION CREDIT
Physicians
Symposia Medicus designates this educational activity for a maximum of 18 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™.

Application has been made to the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) for Category 1 Credit.

Application for prescribed CME credit has been made with the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP).

Physician Assistants
The American Academy of Physician Assistants accepts Category 1 CME approval from organizations accredited by the ACCME.

Nurse Practitioners/Nurses
The ANCC contact hours awarded for the completion of this conference is 18.

Provider is also approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing, Provider #CEP2335, for 21.6 contact hours.

Pharmacology Credit for Prescriptive Authority
A maximum of 4.42 hours in pharmacology credit for prescriptive authority may be earned by attending this educational conference. Sessions awarding pharmacology credit for prescriptive authority are denoted with an Rx.

Participants should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Certificates of completion/credit will be given to participants on-site at the conclusion of the conference.

Each registrant will receive an extensive conference syllabus containing pertinent information on each conference topic. GROUP TOURS
Tours are planned for participants and guests throughout the conference breaks. Additional information regarding tours and miscellaneous hotel/location will be sent.
