CONFERENCE DESCRIPTION
Our 22nd Annual Fall Conference on High Risk Obstetrics will provide you with a comprehensive look at many contemporary and controversial clinical issues in the management of your high risk obstetric patients.

The goal of this conference is to provide a comprehensive update and review on current topics related to treating the high risk pregnant patient. Emphasis will be placed on practical application on evidence-based topics. In addition to didactic lectures, ample time has been allotted for participant feedback and interaction.

Topics in this year's conference have been selected based on extensive target audience needs assessment data, clinical expert input, and Obstetric practice guidelines.

An outstanding faculty has been assembled for this conference that is committed to providing participants with current and practical information. Each member was selected based on their individual area of expertise and their ability to communicate first-hand, practical information with participants.

This conference will provide you with an opportunity to share current ideas with colleagues from across the country in a stimulating, relaxing and informal environment. You will take home a wealth of information which will help you to better care for the high risk pregnant patient.

CONFERENCE OBJECTIVES
At the conclusion of this conference, you should be able to:

Discuss the diagnosis and management of a variety of high risk pregnancy issues such as preeclampsia, cardiomyopathy, bradycardias, infections, hemorrhage, gestational diabetes, and deep venous thrombosis

Describe the approach to women at risk for preterm birth and discuss known methods of prevention and management

Recognize infectious causes and consequences of preterm birth

Discuss how to avoid the pitfalls of shoulder dystocia

Identify the relationship between perinatal events and cerebral palsy

Each registrant will receive an extensive conference syllabus containing pertinent information on each conference topic. In an effort to reduce the environmental impact of printing on paper, the syllabus is now available on CD. This educational activity was planned and produced in accordance with the ACCME and ANCC essentials and standards relating to continuing medical and nursing education.

Symposia Medicus is accredited by the Accreditation Council on Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

Symposia Medicus is accredited as a provider of continuing education for nurses by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation (ANCC).

CONTINUING EDUCATION CREDIT
Physicians
Symposia Medicus designates this educational activity for a maximum of 19 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Application has been made with the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) for Cognates, Formal Learning.

Nurse Midwives / Physician Assistants
The American College of Nurse Midwives and the American Academy of Physician Assistants accept Category 1 CME approval from organizations accredited by the ACCME.

Nurse Practitioners/Nurses
The ANCC contact hours awarded for the completion of this educational activity is 19.

Provider is also approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing, Provider # CEP2335, for 22.8 contact hours.

Pharmacology Credit for Prescriptive Authority
A maximum of 3.5 hours in pharmacology credit for prescriptive authority may be earned by attending this educational conference. Sessions awarding pharmacology credit for prescriptive authority are denoted with an Rx in the schedule.

Each Participant should claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Certificates of completion/ credit will be given to participants on-site at the conclusion of the conference.
